We present linearized augmented-plane-wave calculations for FeCu fcc a
nd bcc metastable phases using the local-density approximation (LDA) a
s well as the local-spin-density approximation (LSDA). The nonpolarize
d density of states calculated within the framework of LDA together wi
th the reformulated Stoner theory provide results in excellent agreeme
nt with those obtained from LSDA calculations. The magnetization is ca
lculated for several alloy compositions-the magnetic moment per Fe ato
m is almost constant over a wide range of Fe content-in good agreement
with recent experiments.
