Sp. Mezyk et Dm. Bartels, RATE OF HYDROGEN-ATOM REACTION WITH ETHANOL, ETHANOL-D(5), 2-PROPANOL, AND 2-PROPANOL-D(7) IN AQUEOUS-SOLUTION, The journal of physical chemistry. A, Molecules, spectroscopy, kinetics, environment, & general theory, 101(7), 1997, pp. 1329-1333
Arrhenius parameters for the reaction of hydrogen atoms with ethanol,
ethanol-d(5), 2-propanol, and 2-propanol d(7) in aqueous solution have
been determined by the use of pulse radiolysis and electron paramagne
tic resonance free induction decay attenuation measurements. At 25.0 d
egrees C, the calculated rate constants for these compounds are (2.04
+/- 0.06) x 10(7), (2.77 +/- 0.26) x 10(6), (1.01 +/- 0.07) x 10(8), a
nd (1.56 +/- 0.07) x 10(7) dm(3) mol(-1) s(-1) respectively, with corr
esponding activation energies of 24.10 +/- 0.50 (6.5-81.3 degrees C),
31.9 +/- 1.2 (22.4-79.6 degrees C), 22.00 +/- 0.26 (5.4-88.5 degrees C
), and 27.45 +/- 0.30 (5.7-86.5 degrees C) kJ mol(-1). The results of
this study are compared to previous reports and ab initio calculations
