R. Bartels et al., NEW PROCESS-CONTROL COMPUTER-SYSTEM FOR T HE BLAST-FURNACE PLANT OF AN INTEGRATED IRON AND STEEL WORKS, Stahl und Eisen, 114(6), 1994, pp. 75-79
Introduction to the project to be realized. Tasks of the integrated pr
ocess control computer system. Brief description of the plant units, i
.e. the two blast furnaces, the hot-blast stoves and the central contr
ol station for the entire blast-furnace plant. Description of the auto
mation concept with the basic automation, the individual hot-blast sto
ve plant computers, the burden computer and the main control computer
for the blast-furnace plant. Application functions, e.g. process data
acquisition, storage and display as well as model-aided hot-blast stov
e process control. Description of the software structure and operator
interface. Operational experiences: After certain adjustments of the c
ontrol parameters in the hot-blast stove model it was possible to achi
eve within a short time a steady operation both of blast furnace II an
d of blast furnace III. The aimed natural gas consumption saving of ab
out 5% has been exceeded. A more uniform blast-furnace gas consumption
was also achieved.
