Abstract
Thickness deviations at the strip front end are frequently twice large r than in the uniform size part of hot wide strip. Investigation of th e rolling conditions for normal rolling processes and those negatively affected by strip slips/strip bumps. Strip slips cause longer dwell t imes under the scale scrubber. This results in temperature variations over the rolled product length. Analysis of the initial pass condition s. Recording of relevant process variables during the entry phase. Eff ect of temperature on other process variables during the initial pass. Prevention of strip bumps by improvement of the bite conditions. Curv ed blades in the cropping shear improve bite conditions.
