F. Marzari et V. Vanzani, ORBITAL EVOLUTION OF DUST PARTICLES NEAR MEAN MOTION RESONANCES WITH THE EARTH, Planetary and space science, 42(2), 1994, pp. 101-107
In this paper We Study the trapping of dust particles into exterior me
an motion resonances with the Earth. We integrate a large number of pa
rticle orbits in the context of a many-body problem taking into accoun
t the effects of Poynting-Robertson and solar wind drag. Adopting a st
atistical approach, we show how particles with low values of inclinati
on are trapped more frequently into resonance with respect to high inc
lination particles. We also present results on the dynamic evolution o
f dust particles trapped in the 1/1 resonance with the Earth. Unusuall
y long-lived trappings have been found.
