A high frequency method for calculating the contribution to the monost
atic RCS due to the interaction between edges and plane facets of a co
mplex body is presented. The approach is based on a combination of the
Equivalent Currents Method (ECM) and Geometrical Optics (GO). The met
hod has been implemented in a general purpose code to calculate the RC
S of complex targets represented by an edge-facet model. Ray-tracing c
riteria are developed in order to improve the efficiency of the method
when complex targets are being analyzed. There is good agreement betw
een the present results and those obtained with other methods and from
measurements, which demonstrates the accuracy of this method.
