A heterotrimetallic sulfide cluster with an organometallic group, [Cp
Rh{P(OEt)(3)}(mu-S)(2)W(mu-S)2CuCl] (Cp=eta(5)-C(5)Me(5)), was prepar
ed stepwise by using mononuclear units of organorhodium(III), thiotung
state(VI), and chlorocopper(I). X-ray crystal structure analysis revea
led that the cluster possesses a linear sequence of middle (Rh), early
(W), and late (Cu) transition metal atoms with octahedral, tetrahedra
l, and trigonal planar coordination geometries, respectively.
