M. Muzquiz et al., VARIATION OF ALKALOID COMPONENTS OF LUPIN SEEDS IN 49 GENOTYPES OF LUPINUS-ALBUS L FROM DIFFERENT COUNTRIES AND LOCATIONS, Journal of agricultural and food chemistry, 42(7), 1994, pp. 1447-1450
Forty-nine genotypes of Lupinus albus seeds from different countries h
ave been analyzed for their alkaloid content by thin-layer chromatogra
phy and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. Twenty samples were swee
t, while 29 were bitter, and the taste was positively correlated with
the alkaloid content. The composition of the-alkaloids showed that lup
anine was the main alkaloid present, and variable amounts of albine, a
lpha-isolupanine, multiflorine, and 13-hydroxylupanine were also detec
ted in the seeds.
