The behaviour of oxide-coated Ni-based electrodes for the ethanol oxid
ation in alkaline media is investigated. Oxide layers with different a
mount of active material are grown by applying a repetitive symmetric
square wave potential signal on both polycrystalline Ni and the amorph
ous alloy denoted as G15(Ni58Co20Si10B12). The I/E curves for the etha
nol oxidation at this type of surfaces exhibit an apparent current lim
iting plateau which increases on the amount of electroformed oxide.
