Abstract
A new species of Ascotricha (Ascomycetes: Xylariaceae) is described an d illustrated as A. novae-caledoniae. It is characterized by non-ostio late ascomata with a translucent peridium, a few branched short ascoma tal hairs, clavate asci, discoid ascospores, and the absence of an ana morph. The holotype was isolated from forest soil in New Caledonia.
