Ym. Smirnov, DISSOCIATIVE EXCITATION OF GERMANIUM ATOMS IN COLLISIONS OF SLOW-ELECTRONS WITH GECL4 MOLECULES, High energy chemistry, 28(4), 1994, pp. 255-258
A vapor-filled cell with an extended beam of monoenergetic electrons w
as used to study the dissociative excitation of germanium atoms in col
lisions of electrons with molecules of germanium tetrachloride. The ex
citation cross sections for seven spectral lines of GeI and two optica
l excitation functions in the range of electron energies 0 - 100 eV we
re measured. The appearance energies were 20 +/- 1 and 21 +/- 1 eV for
the transitions from the 5s3 P0 and 5s1 P0 levels, respectively. The
most probable reaction pathway near the threshold was determined.
