Aa. Dalinkevich et Im. Piskarev, INFLUENCE OF DOSE-RATE AND TEMPERATURE ON RADIATION-INDUCED OXIDATIONAND STRENGTH CHANGES IN HIGHLY ORIENTED POLYETHYLENE FIBERS, High energy chemistry, 28(4), 1994, pp. 273-277
It was shown that alpha-relaxation in highly oriented polyethylene wit
h a fibrillar structure (fibers) causes breaks in the Arrhenius depend
ences for the oxidation rate and the radiation yield of a decrease in
fiber strength. The character of these breaks depends on die dose rate
and is connected with unfreezing of die mobility of unfolded tie chai
ns whose concentration in oriented fibers is rather high.
