Ov. Butrimovich et al., TRIPLET-TRIPLET ABSORPTION OF NAPHTHALIMIDE DERIVATIVES IN ETHANOLIC SOLUTIONS, High energy chemistry, 28(4), 1994, pp. 292-293
The spectral and kinetic characteristics of induced triplet-triplet (T
-T) absorption for some naphthalimide derivatives in ethanolic solutio
ns at room temperature were studied using a laser photolysis technique
(lambda(exc) = 347 nm, DELTAt = 20 ns). Investigations in the region
of 460 - 700 nm showed that all of these compounds exhibit T-T absorpt
ion with the maximum at about 530 - 600 nm. The T-T absorption of naph
thalimides decays within (1.2 - 1.6) x 10(-6) s, thus indicating a rel
atively low rate for oxygen quenching of triplet states of these compo
unds.
