The crystal is built up from planar Pt(NH3)42+ cations, octahedral IrC
l5(H2O)2 anions and two H2O molecules. The coordination of these ions
is 6/6, thus leading to a NaCl crystal structure. Electrostatic intera
ctions and N ... Cl, N ... O and N ... N short contacts (possible hydr
ogen bonds) take part in the packing of the structure and form a three
-dimensional network.
