4,7-DIAZADECANEDIAMIDE)-DIISOTHIOCYANATOCOPPER(II)

The Cu(II) ion of the title complex, [Cu(NCS)2(C10H22O2N4)], is six-co ordinated in a tetragonally elongated octahedral geometry with the two amine N atoms of the quadridentate ligand and the two N atoms of the isothiocyanato groups equatorial and the two amide O atoms axial. The two N-methyl groups of the tetradentate ligand are trans to each other with respect to the equatorial plane. The complex has a cis-alpha con formation. The central five-membered ring is in a stable skew form and both of the terminal six-membered rings are in unstable twist forms. Both isothiocyanato groups are disordered.
