Abstract
The Na cation forms a 1/1 complex with 15-crown-5 ether. In this compl ex, Na+ is six-coordinated to the five macrocyclic O atoms (average Na -O 2.42 angstrom) and the I- ion. The coordination geometry is pentago nal pyramidal. The Na+ ion lies 0.798 (3) angstrom above the least-squ ares plane of the ether O atoms. All structural parameters of the crow n ether are similar to those of related complexes.
