The (dithiomethoxycarbonyl)phosphine transfer reaction between Pd(PPh3
)4 and W(CO)5[PPh2(CS2Me)], 1, forms {Pd(PPh3)[mu,eta1,eta2-(MeS2C)PPh
2]}2, 3, as the final product. The reaction proceeds via a eta2-coordi
nation of the C=S fragment to Pd, giving (Pd(PPh3)-[mu,eta1,eta2-(MeS2
C)PPh2]W(CO)5}, 2 as an intermediate. Complexes 2 and 3 are characteri
zed by X-ray diffraction analysis.
