Abstract
Binding of [H-3]L-689,560 to the glycine site of the glutamate/NMDA re ceptor was carried out using post-mortem brain tissue from patients wi th Huntington's disease (HD) and from matched controls. Decreased bind ing site density (by 62% in the caudate nucleus, 20% in the frontal co rtex) was identified in HD. The deficit found in the caudate nucleus i n HD correlated with deficits of GABA and glutamate concentrations and thus may reflect the ongoing disease process.
