Gp. Reynolds et al., DEFICIT OF [H-3] L-6X9,560 BINDING TO THE GLYCINE SITE OF THE GLUTAMATE NMDA RECEPTOR IN THE BRAIN IN HUNTINGTONS-DISEASE/, Journal of the neurological sciences, 125(1), 1994, pp. 46-49
Binding of [H-3]L-689,560 to the glycine site of the glutamate/NMDA re
ceptor was carried out using post-mortem brain tissue from patients wi
th Huntington's disease (HD) and from matched controls. Decreased bind
ing site density (by 62% in the caudate nucleus, 20% in the frontal co
rtex) was identified in HD. The deficit found in the caudate nucleus i
n HD correlated with deficits of GABA and glutamate concentrations and
thus may reflect the ongoing disease process.
