Kr. Miller, INTERNATIONAL-COOPERATION IN CONSERVING BIOLOGICAL DIVERSITY - A WORLD STRATEGY, INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION, AND FRAMEWORK FOR ACTION, Biodiversity and conservation, 3(5), 1994, pp. 464-472
Stimulated by the growing awareness of deforestation at all latitudes,
the loss of species, declines in several fisheries, pollution, and ot
her environmental threats, governments, citizen groups, academics, and
indigenous peoples have been actively seeking ways to reverse current
trends of impoverishment and achieve sustainable development. This pa
per considers the problems which confront managers of protected areas
and proposes a six-point agenda for management based upon improved int
ernational policies, funding initiatives and other support mechanisms.
