Sixteen juvenile and adult western lesser sirens, Siren intermedia net
tingi Goin, 1942, were collected from 2 counties in Arkansas and exami
ned for endoparasites. Eleven (69%) sirens harbored 1 or more parasite
s, including 1 (6%) with Diplostomum sp. metacercariae, 9 (56%) with P
roteocephalus sireni, 1 (6%) with larval Capillaria sp., and 2 (13%) w
ith Falcaustra chabaudi. New locality records are documented for P. si
reni and F. chabaudi, and new host records are reported for Diplostomu
m sp. and Capillaria sp. The histopathology of the larval Capillaria i
ntegumental infection is described in the new host. A summary is provi
ded on helminths of Siren spp.
