Abstract
The SSCL Accelerator System's String Test (ASST) has had several cool down, subsequent operational test series, and warm up cycles. The firs t cycle of these was rather limited in scope as mandated by Congress. The subsequent tests have been performed to obtain more complete infor mation about parameters of, or operating experience with, the ensemble of magnets and spools when operating serially as in accelerator opera tions. The tests and procedures performed to date have emphasized cryo genic, mechanical, and electrical operations. These have included runn ing, as well as upset conditions, i.e., superconducting to normal tran sition of the string (quench). This paper represents a summary of the operational test results and characteristics seen to date. A limited d iscussion will be included as to their implications with respect to a successful accelerator operation.
