K. Watanabe et al., HIGHLY STRENGTHENED MULTIFILAMENTARY (NB, TI)(3)SN WIRES STABILIZED WITH CUNB COMPOSITE, IEEE transactions on magnetics, 30(4), 1994, pp. 1871-1874
Multifilamentary (Nb,Ti)3Sn superconducting wires with reinforcing sta
bilizer of CuNb composite, CuNb/(Nb,Ti)3Sn, were developed. The outsta
nding point is that the 0.2 % proof stress at 4.2 K in CuNb/(Nb,Ti)3Sn
was extremely improved to 320 MPa even after the heat treatment at 67
0-degrees-C for 192 hours, which is 1.8 times higher than that in ordi
nary Cu/(Nb,Ti)3Sn. The overall J(c) value in CuNb/(NbTi)3Sn was obtai
ned to be 110 A/mm2 at 16 T and 4.2 K. These results show that the bro
nze processed multifilamentary (Nb,Ti)3Sn superconducting wire with Cu
Nb reinforcing stabilizer is actually employable for a high field supe
rconducting magnet.
