Bronchial carcinoids are uncommon pulmonary tumors, considered neuroen
docrine in origin and all types may produce various hormones. We descr
ibe a young woman with a 5-year history of radiographically stable aty
pical bronchial carcinoid, ectopic ACTH production, and a markedly ele
vated calcitonin level. The Cushing's syndrome and diarrheal illness w
ere due to the ectopic hormones.
