A. Galvanauskas et al., HIGH-POWER AMPLIFICATION OF FEMTOSECOND OPTICAL PULSES IN A DIODE-PUMPED FIBER SYSTEM, Optics letters, 19(16), 1994, pp. 1201-1203
We report a compact all-diode-laser-pumped erbium-doped fiber system c
onsisting of an environmentally stable Kerr-type mode-locked fiber osc
illator and a fiber amplifier. High-repetition-rate (38 MHz) 200-fs-du
ration pulses were amplified to as much as 3 nJ of energy and 150 mW o
f average power. Amplification of unstretched and stretched pulses was
studied. Using chirped-pulse amplification, we obtained clean pedesta
l-free 420-fs pulses. Amplification of unstretched pulses produced 84-
fs pulses with a broad pedestal.
