Breeding or semen collection was attempted using: natural cover, manua
l stimulation, artificial vagina, pharmacologic induction of ejaculati
on, and electroejaculation. Sperm cells were recovered from the ductus
deferens and epididymides post mortem. Only semen collected ex copula
by imipramine and xylazine treatment resulted in conceptions (4/5). T
his is the first report of pregnancies in horses from ex copula semen
collection.
