Abstract
A generalized (2 + 1)-dimensional nonlinear Schrodinger equation intro duced recently by Fokas is investigated and is shown to admit the Pain leve property. The Hirota bilinearization directly follows from the si ngularity analysis. Localized dromion solutions, which arise essential ly due to the interaction of two nonparallel ghost solitons and locali zed breather solutions (time oscillating solutions), are constructed u sing the Hirota method. This method can be rigorously pursued to gener ate multidromions and multibreathers. Copyright (C) 1997 Elsevier Scie nce Ltd.
