Abstract
Temperature dependence of the linear birefringence was studied for the molecular crystal-trichloroacetamide (TCAA). Two phase transitions we re found at about 354.5K and 358.5K. The linear birefringence incremen ts in the intermediate phase were analysed by the log-log approximatio n procedure and the beta-exponents were determined. A kind of the glob al hysteresis and the memory effect were also noticed in the intermedi ate phase suggesting the incommensurate nature of this phase.
