Abstract
An exact solution of the Milburn equation is given for the Jaynes-Cumm ings model with an intensity-dependent interaction. The time evolution s of the atomic inversion and the photon number distribution are inves tigated. It is shown that intrinsic decoherence in the atom-field inte raction is responsible for the deterioration of the revivals of the at omic inversion and the oscillatory behaviour of the photon number dist ribution.
