The influence of extemal noise on type V intermittency has been studie
d both analytically and numerically based on a model map. The results
show that there is a gradual divergence from the logarithmic dependenc
e of the average laminar length on the control parameter and the hyper
bolic secant distribution of laminar lengths when the strength of the
extemal noise increases. That is in a good agreement with our experime
ntal results obtained in an electronic relaxation oscillator.
