Abstract
XeF(+)MF(6)(-) (M = As, Sb) reacts with ((CF3)(2)CS)(2) and Cl2CS to f orm the corresponding monofluorinated sulfonium hexafluorometalates. T he salts have been characterized by vibrational and F-19 NMR spectrosc opic measurements. (CF3)(2)CSC(CF3)(2)SF+SbF6- crystallizes in the mon oclinic space group C2/c with a = 14.791(10), b = 11.093(6), c = 10.35 6(6)Angstrom, beta = 119.83 degrees and Z = 4. With a value of 1.51(1) Angstrom d(S-F) is comparable to the SF-bond distance in (CF3)(Cl)CSC (CF3)(Cl)SF+AsF6-.
