Abstract
A highly selective spectrophotometric method is described for the dete rmination of palladium, using 3-thiophenaldehyde-4-phenyl-3-thiosemica rbazone (TAPS). The method is based on the formation of an insoluble p alladium(II)-TAPS complex, which is extractable into chloroform from 1 M sulfuric acid medium after shaking for 10 min. The complex system c onforms to Beer's law over the concentration range 0.4-6 mug ml-1 of p alladium. The proposed method has been satisfactorily applied to the d etermination of palladium in brazing filler metals. (C) 1994 Academic Press, Inc.
