Ar. Wood et Dg. Andrews, A SPECTRAL MODEL FOR SIMULATION OF TIDES IN THE MIDDLE ATMOSPHERE .1.FORMULATION, Journal of atmospheric and solar-terrestrial physics, 59(1), 1997, pp. 31-51
A linear spectral tidal model is developed for use in interpreting sat
ellite data for the middle atmosphere. It allows for inclusion of zona
l-mean background winds and the parameterization of dissipation proces
ses. In the companion papers (Wood and Andrews, 1996a,b), the model is
used to simulate diurnal and semidiurnal tides and comparisons are ma
de with other models and with observations. Copyright (C) 1996 Elsevie
