S. Chiavarini et al., ENVIRONMENTAL MONITORING AT TERRA-NOVA BAY STATION FROM 1989 TO 1991, International journal of environmental analytical chemistry, 55(1-4), 1994, pp. 331-340
Monitoring was carried on in the Italian Antarctic Station Terra Nova
Bay. Airborne particulate matter was sampled at different Base locatio
ns during the Italian expeditions; samples were then analyzed at the E
NEA laboratories for chemical characterization. The analyses were carr
ied out by INAA (Instrumental Neutron Activation Analysis) for the det
ermination of major, minor and trace elements (Na, K, Cs, Sc, V, Mn, F
e, Co, Zn, La) and by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry for the det
ermination of PAH compounds. Data from the 1989-1990 and 1990-1991 cam
paigns are reported and discussed. Moreover, isokinetic samplings were
carried out at the Base incinerator; the filters were analyzed by INA
A; the V, Cr, Cu, Zn, Cd, Sb concentrations are reported.
