S. Chopra et al., DIRECT SPECTROPHOTOMETRIC DETERMINATION OF PLATINUM USING THIOCARBOHYDRAZIDE AS A REAGENT, Revue Roumaine de Chimie, 39(2), 1994, pp. 143-148
A direct spectrophotometric method has been developed for the determin
ation of platinum using thiocarbohydrazide as complexing reagent. Plat
inum reacts with thiocarbohydrazide in the pH range of 5.5-8.0 and in
the ratio of 1:2 (metal:ligand). It absorbs strongly at 495 nm. Beer's
law is obeyed over the concentration range of 2.0-11.22 ppm. The mola
r absorptivity and Sandell's sensitivity are calculated to be 6.4 x 10
(3) L.mole-1 cm-1 and 0.0029 mug/cm2. The method has been applied for
the determination of platinum in various synthetic samples.
