Abstract
This paper discusses the functional circuits and operating principles
of analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog converters based on only op
tical technology, with the minimum number of functional elements. It i
s shown that the proposed converters have advantages compared with con
ventional devices such as electrooptical converters.
