Abstract
This paper proposes to measure the refractive indices of glasses and i sotropic crystals, using the prism method on a PR-2 Pulfrikh refractom eter (Karl Zeiss, Jena). A device is developed for mounting and adjust ing the prisms, and an optical measurement layout is chosen. The optic al constants for the visible region are determined for highly refracti ng glasses of various compositions from the lanthanum sulphide-gallium oxide system.
