Sm. Vidal et P. Gros, RESISTANCE TO INFECTION WITH INTRACELLULAR PARASITES - IDENTIFICATIONOF A CANDIDATE GENE, News in physiological sciences, 9, 1994, pp. 178-183
In the mouse, natural resistance to infection with unrelated intracell
ular parasites is controlled by the Bcg locus. With a: positional clon
ing approach, a candidate gene for Bcg has been isolated. This gene en
codes for a novel macrophage-specific transport protein, Nramp, which
is altered in innately susceptible animals.
