T. Funazukuri et al., DECHLORINATION RATES OF POLYVINYL-CHLORID E WITH WATER AND AQUEOUS-SOLUTIONS OF ORGANIC-SOLVENTS, Kagaku kogaku ronbunshu, 20(4), 1994, pp. 579-582
Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) pellets were subjected to dechlorination in a
batch reactor with, separately, water and aqueous solutions respectiv
ely of tetrahydrofuran, cyclohexanone and methanol. In the temperature
range of 230-280-degrees-C, dechlorination rate constants were obtain
ed under the assumption of first-order kinetics with respect to the ch
lorine content in the solid sample. The rate constant for dechlorinati
on with water (1 ml) + THF(1 ml) was found to be nearly three times th
at with water, although they have almost the same activation energy, 2
05kJ/mol.
