Results of a spectroscopic study of low temperature atmospheric densit
y He-3-Cs plasmas created by the He-3(n, p)3T reaction at a thermal ne
utron flux of about 8 x 10(11) n/cm2 s are presented. Measurements wer
e carried out using the steady state nuclear reactor of the Moscow Eng
ineering Physics Institute as a neutron source in the temperature rang
e 70-450-degrees-C. The possibility of direct nuclear pumped He-3-Cs l
aser action is indicated by calculations of np, ns CsI level populatio
ns.
