The self-consistent problem of lasing from a Fabry-Perot resonator loa
ded with an active medium is considered. The selective iteration metho
d recently developed for the diffraction theory of the resonator was a
pplied to solve this problem. It allows one to find efficiently both s
table and unstable nonlinear modes. A Krylov-type numerical algorithm
was used to solve a linear eigenproblem with a frozen laser medium. Th
e biorthogonality relations for eigenmodes of a loaded resonator are p
resented, The calculations were performed for the Rigrod model and the
CO2 flow laser model. The parameter region where single-mode lasing i
s stable was found It is shown that a stabilized single-mode lasing ex
ists in a gas flow CO2 laser.
