Abstract
The dipeptide, N-(t-butoxycarbonyl)-L-alanyl-S-benzyl-L-cysteine methy l ester (Boc-Ala-Cys(Bzl)OMe) has been crystallized in orthorhomic spa ce group P2(1)2(1)2(1) with cell dimensions of a = 9.565(1), b = 43.28 2(1), and c = 5.096(1) angstrom. The structure was determined by direc t methods and refined to an R-factor of 0.049. The molecules are packe d in a parallel-pleated sheet arrangement and stabilized by N-H...O hy drogen bonds.
