Abstract
The present status of our knowledge of the plasminogen activator of ur okinase type under nonneoplastic conditions, in tumour growth and meta static spreading is reviewed. The data on regulation of this system in vivo and in cell cultures are considered. Probable correlation betwee n oncogene-associated transformation, cellular proliferation, plasmino gen activator expression and tumor invasion and metastatic spreading i s discussed.
