Abstract
Efficient germanium monochromators have been produced by hot pressing of single-crystal plates. A batch of specimens were tested using a two -crystal neutron spectrometer. We plotted a calibration curve of the r eflectivity peak FWHM versus the pressure applied to a specimen. The o ptimum thickness of the monochromator crystals is determined. We sugge st improvements to the production technique.
