Abstract
Measurements of the discrimination coefficient K(d) of background puls es by the pulse shape in proportional counters filled with Xe+GeH4 mix ture (the technique used to detect Ge-71 decays) and with the gas dope d with acetone are presented. The discrimination coefficient can be in creased several times by increasing the GeH4 concentration to congruen t-to 70% or adding about 10 torr of acetone vapor at a GeH4 concentrat ion of 10-20%. The optimal shaping time is determined.
