M. Evangelisti et al., CHEMICAL HAZARD EVALUATION - THE USE OF FACTUAL HEALTH AND SAFETY DATA-BANKS, Science of the total environment, 153(3), 1994, pp. 211-217
The usefulness of factual health and safety databanks is discussed in
this paper. Four databanks have been selected for this study: HSDB (Ha
zardous Substances Data Bank), ECDIN (Environmental Chemicals Data Inf
ormation Network), RTECS (Registry of the Toxic Effects of Chemical Su
bstances) and CCRIS (Chemical Carcinogenesis Research Information). Th
e quality of the information available in the databanks considered was
examined for five different chemical compounds and the completeness o
f the information available was carried out by an analysis of carcinog
enic and mutagenic data.
