K. Higgins et al., LOW-ENERGY-ELECTRON SCATTERING BY OXYGEN MOLECULES, Journal of physics. B, Atomic molecular and optical physics, 27(14), 1994, pp. 3203-3216
The R-matrix method has been applied to study the scattering of electr
ons by molecular oxygen for a number of internuclear separations, R, i
ncluding the equilibrium separation of R(e) almost-equal-to 2.3a0. Res
ults have been obtained for 12 scattering symmetries for impact energi
es ranging from threshold to 1.0 Ryd. Summed cross sections for elasti
c scattering from the ground state, and the corresponding cross sectio
ns for transitions from the ground state to the a 1DELTA(g), b1SIGMA(g
)+ and the '6 eV' states of oxygen are presented and are compared with
experimental data. Finally, the position and width of the resonance i
n the 2PI(g) and 2PI(u) scattering symmetries are tabulated for values
of R ranging from 1.85 to 2.90 a0.
