xal-bis(S-alkylisothiocarbohydrazonates)-complexes of Ni(II) with new
tetradentate ligands of the open type were obtained by template conden
sation of S-alkylisotiocarbohydrazides with diphenylglyoxal in the pre
sence of Ni(II) ions (2:1:1). X-ray investigation shows that both isot
hiocarbohydrazidic fragments of ligand are in cis-trans conformation.
The distance between the terminal NH2-groups makes easier a subsequent
macrocyclization by bifunctional agents (e.g. EtOC(O)-C(O)OEt). The N
i-N distances range from 1.798 to 1.888 angstrom. Complex moieties are
united in the crystal making a centrosymmetrical dimer with the Ni-Ni
distance of 3.543 angstrom. The complexes and solvating molecules Of
C2H5OH are H-bonded resulting in a double chain.
