Abstract
The total synthesis of met A-III and met D, the metabolites of gomisin
A, was accomplished from the optically pure tetracyclic lactone (8).
The C-6 hydroxyl group in met A-III was introduced by Mukaiyama's hydr
ation reaction of 8, and the C-6, C-7 dihydroxyl groups in met D was i
ntroduced by way of the butenolide (10) which was obtained by the modi
fied hydrosilation reaction of 8.
