L. Meszaros et al., APPLICATION OF HARMONIC-ANALYSIS IN THE MEASURING TECHNIQUE OF CORROSION, Journal of the Electrochemical Society, 141(8), 1994, pp. 2068-2071
A technique for the determination of the rate of corrosion is describe
d based on the harmonic analysis of the current of the electrode pertu
rbed with relatively small amplitude undistorted sinusoidal alternatin
g voltage. The measurement carried out in the vicinity of the corrosio
n potential permits the determination of both the corrosion current de
nsity and the Tafel slopes. The technique is illustrated using a study
of the corrosion of various types of iron electrodes in acidic and ne
utral media.
