Abstract
Various observers assert that the national forests in the Pacific Nort hwest are not being managed on a sustained yield basis. This claim is based on the fact that annual growth is exceeded by annual harvests. T he purpose of this paper is to show that until all overmature timber h as been harvested and regenerated, the volume of timber harvested will exceed annual growth.
